Rec.Kites Logo

The rec.kites logo used in the index page at the Kite Flier's Site was designed by Jeanette Clark, and chosen from a selection of designs by a clear majority of rec.kite readers. There are large (16894 bytes) and small (2349 bytes) GIF versions of the logo here, or you can pick up the original bitmaps from Hawaii.

Jeanette writes:

As the creator of the rec.kites logo used in 1994, I wanted to make sure it was available for those using the rec.kites, since it does represent us as a group. In doing so though, I wanted to be sure that those using it, understood how I am allowing it to be used....

The logo is available for use, without charge on the following conditions:

  1. The logo is not altered from it's original (and final) version. This version will soon be the only version available in the rec.kites archives at kite@ftp.hawaii.edu.
  2. If you wish to change the logo, such as the wording of the banner, it can only be done with my permission (in most cases, I will do it for you without charge).
  3. The use of the logo must not be for profit.
  4. I would like one of whatever the logo is being used for, including each version or release of the item.

Other uses, such as for profit, need to be handled through me on an individual basis. I would rather promote the sport and the list more than I line my pocket...but I also don't want the design and my work to be taken advantage of. I'm willing to work with those that want to use it, providing photo-ready art, etc, and what, if any, compensation made for profit use would be minimal.
