I have several dual/quad sports kites purchased at great expense and I must say have got my moneys worth from them. I now want to build my own kites with the aim to build 5 deltas for a stack. I am familar (yet unpracticed) in hot cutting/tacking, seaming and and generally building kites -- Although I suppose I ought really to wait until my first kite flies before I pass judgement on myself. Ok, here comes the question. Who knows a good shop/source for colourfull ripstop here in the UK ?? and how much would I expect to pay for a metre ?? Also what about the other bits like the spars etc ?? Can I get things on mail order ..... Any ideas/suggestions welcome. Thanks in advance, Colin Hawke, London. = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Date: Tue, 23 Feb 1993 13:59:55 -0500 From: Justin Sprunt Message-ID: <8fWbEfq00Uh_Q5CXIW@andrew.cmu.edu> Organization: Design, Carnegie Mellon, Pittsburgh, PA Subject: Re: Ripstop Nylon Colin Hawke, London (zcmh20@hou.amoco.com) Writes: >Ok, here comes the question. Can I get things on mail order ..... Have you tried 'The Kite Store' in Neal Street, Covent Garden, London? If you can't get it there, they will be able to tell you where you can. Has anyone found this place expensive? I know that they do 6' Flexifoils for #60 sterling. Is that about normal for the UK? justin jsdv@andrew.cmu.edu Justin = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Date: Mon, 13 Feb 1995 12:03:06 -1000 From: hhall@bbs.sd68.nanaimo.bc.ca (Harvey Hall) Message-Id: Organization: School District No. 68 (Nanaimo) Subject: Ripstop Nylon Can anybody give me the name of a store that sells Ripstop Nylon for kites/banners in British Columbia? I checked last time I was up there. They are in the Vacouver yellow pages under _KITES_. I don't remember the names right now nor do I have the book to hand. One of them must be able to sell you construction materials. Check it out. -- "Machiavelli Materialized In My Bay Window And Demanded A Maytag Washer & Dryer" Warns Wayne Cody -- Brian Johnsen johnsen@eskimo.com Seattle, Washington USA = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Date: Mon, 6 Nov 1995 23:54:52 -1000 From: jbsalis@aol.com (Jbsalis) Message-Id: <47nadc$guc@newsbf02.news.aol.com> Organization: America Online, Inc. I seem to be sending him all my money anyway :). Actually, tommarvin@aol.com has good prices and great service. That's why I keep ordering from him.
