Eclipse vs XTC Could anyone offer an opinion or comparison between the Prism Eclipse and the Buena Vista XTC? I have read good things about both of them, and they're exactly the same price. I'm leaning towards the Eclipse because I can't find a place in Canada that sells XTC's but I'm open to suggestions. I would be particularly interested in which one flies better in low wind. Thanks all, Mike M. = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Date: Wed, 15 Nov 1995 14:34:38 -1000 From: Scott Humphrey Message-Id: Organization: Grand Valley State University Subject: Re: Opinions? Eclipse vs XTC Mike- Well it all depends on the type of flying you like to do. The XTC is an extremely fast and agile (radical) kite in the hands of an experienced flier. I have seen the kite flown by the Buena Vista guys, and they truly kick some butt. This fall at the US nationals in Grand Haven, the morning wind was blowing harder than a baby trying to blow out candles (maybe 1-2 knots) at the most, and the ultralight XTC was up and flying with John's SUP Pro Dancer. Needless to say, I was impressed. Sorry I can't tell you much about the Prism, I've never flown it or seen it flown. = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Date: Thu, 16 Nov 1995 07:05:55 -1000 From: gilchgw@zoology.washington.edu (George W. The Prism has an unusual degree of "polish" with its easy bridle adjustment system. Neither one of these is a great low wind kite in the "standard" form, but both come as a UL that will fly in 2-12 MPH winds. The Eclipse SUL is my favorite kite in the Prism line; it flies quite differently from the standard model. Neither of these kites, however, are among my favorites these days because both have rather sloppy performance in the straight and in corners. The Fizz Box of Tricks is more radical than either the Eclipse or the XTC, but it is also much better at tracking and cornering. If you want a kite primarily for trick flying, the Box is probably the best thing on the market. You can order one from BFK in California (Hoy, the owner, is a regular here).
