Well...I was a lurker in this group, but I just had the best kiting experience of my life today...so I decided to share it... It's not much, actually...I had only flown one dual line kite b4 today, and it wasn't a good flight, for whatever reason... I'm riding my bike with a friend down in Ashbridges Bay park, In toronto Ontario...and I see all these kites on the beach...I think, Cool...I'll go and talk to them...I get talking with a gentleman named Mark {I forgot his last name, I think he reads this, so...}, and he lets me fly his trainer kite... *sigh* I only have One thing to say... I want one...bad... What a rush... Oh, and to Jim...maybe nextime you'll get Jeff home on time, eh, and not be playing with the buggy all the time... 8-) I just thought this would liven up the lives of all you experts, at how a newbie reacts to the sport... Now...Stop reading this, and Go fly a kite. Well... Welcome aboard, what can; I say it is always a pleasure put a face on to a fellow Rec.kite flier. We have found it a great way to break the ice, when itcomes to meeting other kite fliers. We might not have had the chance to meet you and your friend if it hadn't been for Rec.kites. I am sure you will have similar experiences, as your involvement in kiting grows. Oh yes! That gentlemen's name is Mark "Groshens" he is the T.K.F.'s president and is an all around nice guy. Loves to play hard and relishes the chance to talk to all, especially people who are interested in kiting. To my surprize there were quite a few T.K.F members' flying there on Sunday enjoying the people and the weather. The the club has several kites to introduce people to flying kites, as you now know. I am glad to see they are doing the job. Jeff and I don't often get the opportunity to fly at Ashbridge Bay but my wife was visiting some friends. When we saw the kites we had to drop by. Yes Adam, we were leaving the park, we were only at the park for about hour, but when I get a chance to play, I am gone. (A kid in candy in a store :-) I know Jeff did remind me, that he had some home work to do and it was time to pick up mom. (great dad huh!). I personally we don't have a buggy, but Mark has one and has invited us on several occasions to play, so I couldn't help myself. During the winter Jeff and I do power flying mainly with skis' and skates but Sunday was one of our warm days so far. So it was bugging time, it's a blast! Just be CAREFUL! It's highly addictive as well. Finally, regarding this GO fly a kite business, sorry but my wife told me to do just that several years ago. So I grab the kids and "I never came back," I hope you don't get the bug quite as bad as I did. KITING IS A WONDERFUL WORLD OF FUN, PLAY, PEOPLE AND IS EVER EXPANDING, SO PLEASE COME AND JOIN US. Rec. Kites has so much to offer to all, it's was so nice to see that spark of enthusiasm and delight, thanks for sharing your thoughts with us. All the best in your kiting projects, and if we can help give us call. By the way have a look at the update on the FAQ. Kite Cubs and distributors the offer all different materials, kites etc. Take your time and enjoy! Jim & Jeff Poy = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
