The New York Stunt Kite Championships started Saturday with no wind and a fly or die edict from the judges. Keith Brown flew first in EIB and Billy Ng flew first in IIB. Both scored poorly. I watched Keith run a succession of 360s during his ballet. He almost needed oxygen after it was over. Other early flyers flew better in similar wind conditions but the wind eventually picked up to where it wasn't a problem (unless you were flying an ultralight) by the end of the first events. Erratic winds are always a factor in stunt kite competition and we certainly had them in New York. Mark V = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
