The Ultra is also fun on quad line. definitely agree with the above. i own a tracer, and have access to an Ultra (although i've only flown it QUAD). you'll end up paying a little more for the Ultra (especially in the QUAD mode), but IMHO i think flying QUAD ballet will give you more options. FYI: i've got some good friends that own a kite shop here on the east coast. so if you'd like some "experienced" advice (ie. not mine) from those who actually fly for a living, you can give them a call. just let me know and i'll pass on the number. bill ========================================= doney@oasys.dt.navy.mil "man, i think the clock is slow...." - VH ========================================= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Date: Wed, 15 Jun 1994 06:36:22 -1000 From: johnson@eng.gtefsd.com Message-Id: <2tnam6$ng9@europa.eng.gtefsd.com> Organization: Al Johnson Subject: Re: New kite site In message <2tmstt$59c@quad.wfunet.wfu.edu>, russh@lib.wfu.edu (Russ Hundley) writes: > >I'm looking for input on my next big kite purchase, and knowing no better >place than rec.kites... > >My wife and I are interested in flying pairs ballet. Russ Hundley >russh@lib.wfunet.wfu.edu Two of the more popular pairs kites on the East Coast are made by rec.kiters. Dean Jordan's Pro is used by the Kak Attak and the Breeze Brothers. Marty Sasaki's Katana 2 has been used by the Duodrones, the VA Windseekers, and Tech Tools, Flying Fools. Both seem to be excellent pairs kites. As for the kites you mentioned: Tracers have been very popular for pairs routines (the Duodrones placed first often using them last year and Windswept and the John Boyz are still using them) I've yet to see an Ultra pairs routine but, hey, why not? (Don't give Chuck Conners and Jeff Rivers any ideas) At Verdun I saw Ron Reich fly a pairs routine with two Griffins and they certainly worked well. If Ron can do it, I imagine two people can also. What makes a good pairs kite? I would think the same attributes which make a good team kite, but pairs kites tend to be a bit faster. Any opinions out there? I know we have some pairs flyers among you. Flying for the Fun of It, Mark Virgilio (uspehmev@ibmmail.com) PS: For pairs flying Alice and I have Phantoms, Flash Angels, and Scorpions.
