Line up the edge of the rib fabric to the line and then sew the seam 1/4" to the left of the rib fabric edge. Hope this helps and Happy sewing Sam sritter@umi.com = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Date: Mon, 13 Dec 1993 06:24:52 -1000 From: era_pul@ki.ericsson.se (Peter Ulfheden ) Message-Id: <1993Dec13.162452.14219@ericsson.se> Organization: Ericsson Radio Systems AB, Sweden Subject: Re: marking lines on dark colour ripstop Luc Marchand (luc@camscan.co.uk) wrote: : Hi everyone, : : I have just finished a speedfoil and I already going to make another one.... : My question is: : I have a very nice Blue Ripstop Nylon and did some test about marking the : lines on it. How do you deal with black coulour??? : Thanks in advance for any suggestions.. Hi Luc and everyone, You can try non-permanent overhead markers. It can be washed off with warm water. Don't use any detergent. It can be a difference between the sides of the rip-stop, one side absorbes it more easily. At least Carrington behaves that way for me. It can be hard to remove a dark color on a bright fabric if you draw the lines on the 'absorbing side'. Oh, yes.. when sewing profiles, you should try to draw the lines *not* where the sewing line is but half a presser foot width to one side instead. When you sew, line up the edge of the presser foot, the profile and the line. (Thank you Jeff for the advice) When it comes to black, try black or purple. If the lighting is good you will see a purple line. BTW, has anyone tried to use permanent markers for dyeing the *white* thread, you used for sewing your profiles across the appliqued front of the kite?
