(1-800-827-6364) Subject: Letter from Bob Childs I am posting this for Bob Childs (dean jordan). TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN In response to the latest attention given to Frank Kenisky's involvement in the BONNEVILLE BUGGY ENDURO, I should probably explain what an organizational nightmare it is to put on events such as this. Some of you already know. At the present, of the 25 (give or take) volunteers it will take to run this race I currently have 3 who have gaurenteed their time. When Frank came to me unsoliceted, and offered his time and to travel at his expense, I accepted as I think most people would. The positions I am first trying to fill are of an accounting nature, which is a skill I feel Frank possesses (like him or not). To further explain the operations of the BBE (and hopefully not sound to egotistical), the only person to be credited or criticized for this race is the person who is picking up the check (hi there!) and not any of the volunteers who work for me and carry out the 15 pages of guidelines which I have provided them. I will add sincerely, that if there are 23 more people out there who would like to come to the BBE and not buggy so that they may help me run the race, I would be in a better position to release the volunteers that some people may be hung up on. I am hopeful that people will see the potential of an event such as the BBE. The return in fun, excitement, and a challenge answered, will hopefully be a reward unmatched by any thing else and remain uncontaminated by the sudo-politics which have tainted the sport-kite comp world. The freshness of buggy events offers everyone the opportunity for a new image; an innocence by association. Maybe it's time we forgave peoples shortcomings and concentrated on enjoying the time we have together and the sport we all love. Errr... Sorry. It seems that I've been speaking whilst chewing shoe leather again :-( My reaction was mostly a knee-jerk response to rules outlawing blocking, fencing and other normal race tactics... it *does* seem over-policed. I am most keen that buggy racing doesn't turn out like yacht racing with all the baggage of classes, protests and stuff. I wish you a successful event.
