In response to "Is this newsgroup alive?". Just recently a pointer was posted to the FAQ's for this group located at ftp.hawaii.edu. You say you want information about kites. This is a rather vauge request, but I suggest you try the FAQ on kite reviews first, then the FAQ on dealers will help you find your favorite. Rick, Geez, you must be right...is there anybody out there? Is it so wrong to ask a basic question? I am fairly new to this sport, myself. I would like to hear that basic question's answer "what is a kite?". Historicaly speaking or whatever. Also, from my vantage...the best place to get kite info is from the kite shops. I have never been disappointed with my window-shopping...cordial and friendly, and very very informed! good luck! laura = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Date: Thu, 9 Jun 1994 01:54:18 -1000 From: salanne@convex.csc.FI (Simo Salanne) Message-Id: <2t6vta$jah@pobox.csc.fi> Organization: Centre for Scintific Computing Subject: Re: Is this newsgroup alive? BEGIN QUOTE A. Questions & Answers Q1: What is a kite? A kite is a wind-powered, tethered flying object/device. Kites come in an incredible variety of shapes, colors, and sizes. The main division between kites has to do with the number of flying lines, with single and dual lines being the most common, and quad line kites gaining popularity.
