There lies, damned lies and fabric specifications. You might be quoted the weight for the fabric with or without the heavy coating. You might be quoted the weight for a yard by the width of the roll. Half ounce, one ounce and one and a half ounce can be relied upon to mean little more than light, regular and heavy. If you want to know for sure, weigh the fabrics you want to compare!
