(1-800-827-6364) Subject: Buggy Tales Yesterday while buggying on a field in Norwalk Conn. things took an interesting turn for the worse. After taking about ten passes and reaching speeds up to about 18 M.P.H. My friend Bob also joined in on his buggy. Bob is new to buggying so I tagged along behind him giving him some directions. As we were gliding down the field, I was becoming mesmerized by the site of our Skytiger 40's following in perfect order. I failed to realize that my lines were about 5 feet longer than Bob's and as we glided past a 50 foot light tower, my Skytiger got tangled in the light post!!! Oh S_ _ t !!! What now!!! A call to the fire department captain stated that they don't come out for cats or kites. Something about risking a 1 million dollar machine for a kite. The nerve!!! The park superintendent suggested I wait until the next day as a cherry picker would be available. I knew if I left my kite in the tower overnight it would just beat itself to death. So after much head scratching I ended up paying a truck driver 10 dollars to pull his truck up to the light post. A ten foot step ladder on top of the truck and a 20 foot painting stick with a pocket knife taped to the end was just enough for me to cut the bridles and let the kite fall free!!! I just finished fixing the bridle, no sail damage and the Skytiger is good as new. The motto? Use short lines and pay attention!!! All in all a very interesting day on the buggy field!! Pizza also helps....... Later, John Tavolacci P.S. I propose all buggy stories go under the posting of BUGGY TALES......... = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Date: Tue, 30 Aug 1994 03:49:05 -1000 From: ahclem0013@aol.com (AhClem0013) Message-Id: <33vdch$al1@search01.news.aol.com> Organization: America Online, Inc. You know, John, that this trick has also been accomplished with a stack of Dynakites and a Rev II without the use of a buggy. ;-) Perhaps they should permanently assign a cherry picker to that park, expecially with the Norwalk Fall Kite Festival coming up. (Or take down the lamp posts. We'll give them a choice.) Glad you got your kite back. Flying safe at Jones Beach, Mark V = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
