David,
   What confused the hell out of me, and I've seen with many new pilots, 
is that *my* right and the *kites* right are different unless the kite it 
pointing straight up.
   You can turn the kite to its right either by pulling on the right 
line, or pushing on the left (or a combination of both).
   (if the kite is fast on its way to burying itself in the ground- 
straight down- the preceeding is reversed to turn it to *your* right, 
which will be kites left)
