Subject: Stunt Kite Kits Does anyone have suggestions on stunt kite kits? I have make plenty of paper and plastic kites, but would like to try my hand at sewing. I think the best way, may be to get a kit. This would eliminate several of the other variables involved with kite making (fabric cutting, detailed instructions, and a finished product that has a good chance of flying). I think Hang-em High has kits, are there any others? Or should I just jump straight in and make one from scratch (using a plan)? Or should I start with a simple single liner? I would suggest starting with the kit. Most plans don't cover all of the details. The Hang-em High kit looks very nice (I haven't built one, but I've seen the kit and the instructions). Or, start with a simple fabric single line kite, just to get used to sewing and such. There isn't really any magic about making stunt kites, but there are a little more complex than other kites. Like anything else, practice makes perfect, and practicing on a simple kite is likely to be less frustrating and less expensive than jumping right in with a big-wing stunt kite. -- Marty Sasaki Harvard University Sasaki Kite Fabrications sasaki@noc.harvard.edu Network Operations Division 26 Green Street 617-496-4320 10 Ware Street Jamaica Plain, MA 02130 Cambridge, MA 02138-4002 phone/fax: 617-522-8546 = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
