They were talking about the "spiderwire" spectra lines used for fishing now. They mentioned that there are two new products being released at the Sport Fishing Show in Las Vegas this week. They are called "Fusion" and "Fire line". Instead of braiding the line, Fusion is a fused spectra line, and Fire line is a fused Dyneema. They are supposedly rated at the same strength and stretch for a given diameter as the braided lines, but are going to be much cheaper. Has anybody heard anything else about them? Also at the show is a book on fishing knots, including a section on spectra lines. The author, from Geelong (Victoria, Australia), claims to be able to increase the strength of knots in spectra from the standard 400p to around 800f full strength. His name is Jeff (or Geoff) Wilson. I didn't catch the name of the book.
