Bring your kites, kids & a picnic lunch (no dogs please) and plan on a day of kite flying fun. Carpenter Nature Center is located about 45 minutes southeast of Minneapolis on County Road 21, one mile north of Prescott, WI (but still on the Minnesota side of the St Croix). The purpose of the fly is simple: have fun flying our kites and show folks some kites that they may not have seen before. At 1:30pm there will be an informal talk on kites. One of the things we'd like to do is to encourage people to make their own kites, and to that end there will be a simple kite plan handed out along with safety tips and pointers to more information. >From Minneapolis: take US 61 south to US 10.
