What a great idea to give visitor's tuition in making a simple kite. It's an idea worth thinking about for other places where flying is a feature. A memorial has recently been erected ( at Waitohi, I think ) in the South Island of New Zealand. It shows Richard Pierce and his aircraft. It is at the spot where he made his first flight, ending up in the hedge I think. Local legend claims that he actually flew _before_ the Wright Brothers but because NZ was so isolated his flight was never officially recorded. Nice story ! I have not actually seen this memorial yet but I have seen a postcard showing the exhibit. Of course there is no visitor's centre or Kite school (yet). :-) CD> You know I've never seen the movie "Mary Poppins" and it never CD> appears on television. They all show Disney movies from time to time but _never_ "Mary Poppins" or "Snow White". What I do have is a VCR recording of the 1978 movie "The winds of Kittyhawk" all about the Wright Brothers. I recorded it in the middle of last year and have never viewed it. It had a great write-up. Guess what I'll be doing soon now :-) Colin Douthwaite New Zealand 4/5/93 = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
