I just started reading this newgroup and it appears to me there is some kite terminology I should be familiar with to impress my friends! Could someone provide a quick kite terminology list? It reminds me of the recent IBM commercial with the dudes on the beach talkin' surf lingo. thanks = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Date: Tue, 18 Apr 1995 17:40:00 -1000 From: larry.peters@compudata.com (LARRY PETERS) Message-Id: <8A7A58C.02A7001EC3.uuout@compudata.com> Organization: Compu-Data BBS -=- Turnersville, NJ -=- 609-232-1245 Subject: Kite Lingo Wanted I entered a rep. to you -but somethng fouled the transmit. Most of the slang used in kites is not like the "Surfer Type", you my hear of rad kites, very light, very strange manuvers. Stalls, Edgework, Powerzone, Turtle Landing, -there is not really alot -just hang out or you canpick up a Prism Guide from one of the Kite Stores it's full of the details about kites. For instance I have a Macro-Ion a book came with it. ThisKite is a Sort OF? It is big,low aspect ratio sorta ultra lite but not, will fly when there is no wind ok 2mph. One can do 360's with it. 360 =all the way around. It has good "Edgework" capability (I can stall the kite from100 ft and work it down to one spar, and go into main power zone) is it a fast kite NO it is a VERY slow kite, but the tradeoff is it flies when nothing other than a "True" Ultralite can. Just get out there an enjoy the things listen to and talk to kite fliers. I found they are more than willing to help with almost anything. Never feel intimidated most kiter's are not out there for glory -some are -so what! And some of the Glory types are the most interested in seeing you suceed. For get the terminology have a good time! = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Date: Fri, 21 Apr 1995 05:03:11 -1000 From: dan@scage.mv.com (Dan Petlon) Message-Id: Organization: The Sports Cage Subject: Re: Kite Lingo Wanted In article <3mueio$7n@mcrware.microware.com>, gregh@microware.com says... > > >I just ordered a dual line stunt kite, can't wait to get it!
