This was the first time Cervia Volante organized a so big event: more than 150 kitefliers from abroad, more than 200 italian kitefliers| Cervia organize their fest >From about 15 years but this time it was really the biggest I've ever been in Italy. The fest is usually held on the free beach of Cervia (near Ravenna), and because of the lack of space there they only permit one liners. This year changed location, they used the beach of 'Tagliata di Cervia', much bigger than the other, this allowed to have two separate restricted areas. (one for stunters and the rokkaku challenge, and the other or one liner) I could be there only for the 27-28 week-end, but several kitefliers were there from the 19th. Weather was gorgeous when I was there: a sudden burst of hot summer after several weeks of cloudy and rainy days. (today is raining again|) The wind was steady and good Saturday, Sunday mornig was ok and in the afternoon we all was sad the wind was so weak and we couldn't show our kites in the sky to the numerous spectators come to the festival. Mel Govig was among the Americans kitefliers, so I'm shure you will learn more on this festival from his article in kitelines. Also Ciro Sarti, the editor of the new 'Kite Times' magazine (in italian and english) was there, presenting the number one iusse: a confirmation of all the expectations anticipated in the prerelease number. (see previous messages in archives on this). Kiteflyers from all Europe and from Japan, China, Indonesia, USA and Canada was there. A very Big and interesting show in the sky. Also Suturday nigth there was a good flight, with the usual friendly and worm atmpshere only the people from Romagna can build. Romagna is the region where the festival was held, the country famous for the 'Parmigiano reggiano' cheese and for the good cookery. Organization is planning to repeat this festival every two years, I look forward to the next one and I hope to see you all there| Piero Palmiotto. ......................................................................
