The festival takes place at june the 26th & 27th. But the official opening starts at Friday 25th at 20:30 with the fairy tale of Babar, made visible with many kites, on the music of the french composer Poulenc played by "The Amsterdam Wind Ensemble". According to my information this must be a World premiere. The rest of the program is held on saturday and sunday from 11:00 - 17:00. I don't have an exact time table of all the things you can see/do there, but here's an overview of the activities at the beach. * Kite Boat Racing (training on Saturday, Competition on Sunday 12:30). They claim it's the first organized Kiteboat race in the world. If wind direction is good they 'll try a so called "Le Mans start". * World's largest Single en Dual line kite. The single line kite is 550 square meters and the dual line kite is 100 sq/m. The dual line kite should settle a new world record if it will fly. * Stacks of several kites. Stacks of Playcards, Clowns, Pinguins, Frogs, Owls and other creatures can be seen. When conditions are good you might see a stack of 1000 meter of bird kites. * North Sea Cup 1993. Only on Saturday. Top teams from more tham 8 European countrys will compete on the southern part of the beach in single and team flying. * Aquarium. They want as many "fish like" kites in the air as possible at the same time. You 'll see Peter Lynn's "Blow Fish". This is a giant "kite" that bounces on the beach. According to my information this kite has once "eaten" 127 kids (just to give you an impression of the size of this kite). * Buggy demonstrations. No competition only demonstrations because of the lack of beach during the festival. They 'll show you wheely's, pirouettes, backward driving, tandem buggy's and team buggy flying with the former "Flight FX" stunt kite team. They use their kites and the buggy's to make figures in the sky and the sand. * Flexifoil demonstrations. The British team that broke the world record of stacked Flexis (208 kites !) this year in France, will also be in Schevingen. They won't try to break it again in Scheveningen because of the limited space there. Due to this, they can fly only stacks of 60 Flexis :-(. * The Decorators. This British Revolution Team will also visit the festival. These guys visit the Scheveningen Festival every year. They give a perfect show with 4 Revolutions on music. This team is awfully good. Teams from the USA, New Zealand, Brasil, England, France, Spain, Italy, Germany, Belgium, Austria, Switserland, Danmark, Finland, Sweden and of course the Netherlands will take part in this 16th Scheveningen Kite festival. I cann't give you more detailed information than this. But the organising Kite shop ("Vlieger op" in The Hague) can answer most of your questions (I think).
